The government has approved the new National Program "European Science Networks". It was developed by the Ministry of Education and Science and has a budget of BGN 12,622,000.
The main focus in the implementation of the program will be the modernization of training and increasing the participation of Bulgarian scientists in international research programs and projects.
The program will be implemented in the period 2020-2022 and will enable 13 Bulgarian state universities and research organizations to apply for funding.
The aim is to support universities and research organizations in the country, whose projects have been highly valued under the Twinning measure of the European Union's Horizon 2020 Framework Program for Research and Innovation, but have not received funding due to lack of funds.
With national funding, they will be able to maintain already established international scientific partnerships, build new ones and participate in European scientific networks. Priority will also be given to activities related to doctoral programs and the management of research projects.
As a result of the implementation of the program, Bulgarian universities and research institutes will be prepared to be more actively involved in the preparation process in the next EU Framework Program "Horizon Europe".
